Probate is the legal process by which a court recognizes a person's death and appoints an interested person to administer the Estate (including the management and distribution of assets and resolution of debts).  Probate is important to transfer clear title of assets and to resolve debt issues. Can I handle probate without an attorney?

In most cases, it is not possible, nor wise, to handle a probate matter without an attorney,  Also, most courts do not allow a person to represent an estate without an attorney.

How long does the probate process last?

The length of time depends on the number and type of assets and debts in the estate, whether or not there is a valid Will, the county having jurisdiction, and many other factors.
